Sunflowers, Zinnieas, NBCs
Today is all about the flowers. I spent the morning taking new cuttings and propagating them from the night blooming cereus mother-plants. After taking about 9-12 new cuttings I moved onto the Zinnias and sunflowers that were still in seed trays. All of the black and all the blue sunflowers are now in pots. As are the mixed color zinnias. A new batch of BLUE CORN (Jade corn which I am very excited about) and a full tray of watermelon are now beginning their journey into life. We still need to get the DBA license from town hall ("doing business as") after which I will be able to apply for a business loan and then the rest of this process can begin. I have scouted a few locations for the final setup of this business. I think western MA is the way to go, the only thing is I will need to leave a lot of plants here at my parents place and I feel bad about that. Ive been giving many plants away just to conserve space. And the best part is honestly seeing the free plant box get depleted every day. I wish i could have been there to give suggestions or to tell them what plant is what (though they all do have labels) but just knowing they got to a good home is enough for me. Its really gnawing at me this one topic. Do i want to sell plants or do I want to give them away and pray that people donate? That situation around the costs and what I would charge for these if I was to break even. Its crucial to remember to I started this business simply to provoke a reaction in my own soul, I want to give what I was freely given. As Ive been learning more and more about these different types of shrubs and trees (I now have 3 date palm trees I was able to grow from seed) and the wealth of information is really piling up fast. I feel like I can now teach a class on the differences between the various species of flowering trees, common names and scientific for nearly every horticulturally worthwhile type of plants. While working alone is not generally a good idea in life, I do have to say I appreciate the peace and quiet. Plants are much better company than most people who frequent this address...
I hope all of you are having a swell and productive day!! Stay cool hydrated and happy yalls.
Talk to you again tomorrow ;)
